On June 3rd, The European Commission held a stakeholder meeting on the negotiations for an environmental goods agreement.
Commissioner Malmström, in her remarks to the meeting, highlighted the urgent nature of climate change and other environmental challenges and stressed the potential of the negotiations to help meet them. Negotiations for a planned tariff-cutting deal on environmental goods by a group of 17 WTO members completed a first reading of a compiled product nominations list last week in Geneva, Switzerland, reviewing just over 650 tariff lines and more than 2000 products.
The first Public Meeting - also referred to as the Civil Society Dialogue - took place in Brussels on March 25. The meeting minutes are now available here.
